Help and trust

Short answers on how Throttle works. The Terms and the Privacy Policy govern.

How Throttle labels prices

  • A dealer's price is its asking price. Any other price names its basis: last asking, predicted, hammer, or with the buyer's premium.
  • A bid is never a price. A live lot shows “No set price” and its latest bid with the time we read it.
  • A listing that leaves a dealer site is never called sold. See how we know a listing is gone.
  • A dealer's price lines are shown as printed, never added up. A converted currency is an estimate.

When we show LIMITED DATA

LIMITED DATA means too few comparable listings or sales to state a figure honestly, so the badge shows instead of a number. Each page's floor is fixed in code: a model page needs 10 verified sales. The examples on Pricing show it where nothing qualifies yet.

What Throttle covers

Dealer websites, and the public sources listed on how ThrottleBot works. A dealer we do not read yet is not in the results. Car coverage by state.

How auctions on Throttle work

  • Throttle is not part of any auction: you bid on the auction site.
  • A predicted price comes from our records; how close it lands is on Estimate accuracy.
  • Auction sites that block automated readers are not listed.

Your data

We never sell your personal information. We license aggregated, de-identified market data. The plain-English summary is Trust and data; the Privacy Policy is binding.

For dealers

ThrottleBot names itself, obeys robots.txt and stops when blocked: how ThrottleBot works. Remove your store with an opt-out; ask what we hold about your staff with a data request. Our second user agent: ThrottleOutreach.
