Boats for sale

Boats sit. Long days-on-market is normal here, and the wait before Throttle counts a listing as gone is deliberately longer.

A dealer pulling a boat listing for a week during a show is routine, so we require five days of sustained absence before counting one as gone (Throttle does not see sales). Season matters more than in any other category: the same hull is a different negotiation in February than in June.

Counts the day we first saw a listing, not the date the dealer stamped on it.

What to check before you buy

  • · Engine hours and the service history matter more than the hull year.
  • · Check whether a trailer is included — it swings the real price by thousands.
  • · A HIN decodes to a build month and year, which sometimes disagrees with the advertised model year.
