THE BACKWOODS TAKE How much RZR do you actually need? That's a question we'd rather answer before simply pointing someone toward the most expensive machine in the lineup. The Polaris RZR XP 1000 Ultimate makes a strong case for riders who want a serious performance side-by-side but don't necessarily need to step into a Pro XP, Pro S or Pro R. For recreational trail riding across varied terrain, the XP platform delivers the kind of capability many riders are actually looking for without buying solely around maximum horsepower or size. BEST FOR Buyers comparing RZR XP vs Pro XP Serious recreational riders Mixed trail conditions Buyers moving up from smaller sport UTVs Performance-conscious buyers Riders who don't need a Pro-level RZR THE BACKWOODS VERDICT Don't buy a Pro R just because it's the top of the lineup. If your riding doesn't take advantage of what the more extreme machines offer, we'd rather see you put that money toward the right RZR, accessories, riding gear and actual seat time. For a lot of serious recreational riders, the XP 1000 Ultimate is plenty of machine—and that's exactly why it remains such an important part of the RZR lineup. ALSO CONSIDERING? Compare the RZR XP 1000 with the Pro XP if you're looking for the next step in performance, or the Trail S if your riding areas favor a narrower machine.
